Origin Lab Raises $8M for AI World-Model Data

▸ THE LEAD

A new startup wants to turn your favorite games into AI training fuel — and studios are listening.

Origin Lab just closed an $8M seed led by Lightspeed Ventures — with Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin and Cruise's Kyle Vogt on the cap table — to build a marketplace that converts game assets and player telemetry into training data for AI world models. Co-founder Anne-Margot Rodde's pitch is sharp: the physics and movement data AI labs need "essentially lives in video games," and studios are sitting on years of telemetry no one has monetised. The harder question is whether players will accept it, because most of that data wasn't collected with "feed it to a world model" written anywhere in the EULA. Expect this one to land in front of legal teams before it lands in another press release.
