Sony Hikes PS Plus Prices Globally, Extra and Premium Included

Sony's second PS Plus price hike inside twelve months went live May 20, and buried in the rollout: Extra and Premium tiers were bumped too, despite initial messaging that implied only Essential was moving. Essential's 1-month plan now starts at $10.99 and 3-month at $27.99 in the US, with comparable increases across Europe, the UK, and most other regions, all framed as a response to "ongoing market conditions." 12-month plans are untouched across the board — the polite way of saying Sony wants every subscriber locked into annual billing before the next hike lands. Most markets only apply the increase to new subscribers, but Turkey and India are charging every existing subscriber the new rate — a much louder change in the regions where PS Plus revenue is already most stretched. Pair that with PS5 hardware prices going up across Asia earlier this month and a holiday lineup still leaning on a GTA 6 release that hasn't moved off November 19, and the platform pricing strategy reads identical from hardware to subscriptions. Sony is pricing PS Plus like demand is inelastic. The Turkey and India treatment is where that assumption gets stress-tested first.
