FURIA, Spirit Go 3-0 to Headline Cologne Major Playoffs
Eight teams survived the Swiss stage of CS2's flagship summer Major — and two of them never dropped a series getting there.
FURIA and Team Spirit both ran the table at the IEM Cologne Major's Swiss stage, going 3-0 without dropping a single series to lock the cleanest paths into the playoffs. They headline an eight-team bracket — Aurora, Vitality, Falcons, BetBoom, 9z and NAVI round it out — that runs single-elimination at the Lanxess Arena from June 18–21. Every series is a best-of-three up to a best-of-five grand final, with $1.25M on the line and $500K to the winner — a purse that makes the Buchholz seeding from Stage 3, which rewards teams that beat tougher opponents, matter more than usual. Spirit going 3-0 is unsurprising; FURIA matching them is the story, given the Brazilian side has spent most of the year as a dangerous-but-streaky read rather than a tournament favorite. The Palladium-to-Lanxess jump is where Swiss-stage form tends to go to die, so the 3-0 teams get the bracket position but not a free pass.
